RICHLAND, WASH. (December 5, 2025) – Gesa, a leading credit union in the Pacific Northwest dedicated to driving meaningful change in the communities it serves, announced its support of the Raymond School District Weekend Food Bag Program through a financial donation of more than $18,500. The program provides weekend meals to students experiencing food insecurity, ensuring they have access to nutritious food when school is not in session.
The Raymond School District serves approximately 500 students, with about 18% living below the poverty line—higher than the state average of 10%. Currently, 80 students across the district benefit from the Weekend Food Bag Program, which sends home bags of food each Friday during the school year. Each bag includes two breakfasts, two lunches, and three dinners to sustain students through the weekend.
With Gesa’s support, the program has nearly doubled the amount of food per bag, with more nutritious options including fresh fruit when possible. The ability to purchase food in bulk and plan ahead has improved operations, allowing the program team to focus on supporting students in other ways.
“The Raymond School District is so thankful for the generous donation from Gesa Credit Union in support of our Weekend Food Program,” said Raymond School District Superintendent K.C. Johnson. “It’s community partnerships like this that allow the Raymond schools and businesses in our community to provide much-needed support for our students and families.”
“It’s important for students to have their basic needs met so they can focus on learning,” said Brandon Allison, VP of Community Impact at Gesa Credit Union. “We’re supporting the Raymond School District in ensuring that students have access to nutritious food throughout the weekend. When kids don’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, they can put their full energy into their education. That’s when we see real success in the classroom and beyond.”
