RICHLAND, WASH. (February 4, 2026) — Gesa, a leading credit union in the Pacific Northwest dedicated to driving meaningful change in the communities it serves, today announced record-breaking results for home loans in 2025, helping 735 families achieve home ownership—the best homebuyer year in the credit union’s 72-year history.
The milestone reflects Gesa’s ongoing commitment to making homeownership more accessible and affordable for the families and communities it serves. As part of its community home loan program, the credit union brought together competitive financing, educational resources, and personalized guidance designed to help buyers navigate one of the most challenging housing markets in recent years.
Of those 735 families Gesa helped buy homes last year, 277 were first-time homebuyers, representing families who, in many cases, had long believed homeownership was out of reach.
“Watching families walk into their first homes has been one of the most rewarding parts of this experience,” said Steve Tagnolli, Gesa VP of Home Loans. “These are life-changing moments for people who thought this dream wasn’t possible. Seeing the joy on the faces of a young couple and their kids as they step through the door of their first house—that’s when you understand why we do this.”
The community home loan program tackled many obstacles first-time buyers face: rising costs, confusing qualification requirements, and not knowing where to start. Gesa’s approach paired accessible loan options with practical, step-by-step guidance, helping families understand the home-buying process and navigate it from application to closing.
The impact of programs like these extend beyond individual families. Realtors report smoother transactions with better-prepared buyers, home builders see increased activity in starter-home segments, and local economies benefit from families putting down roots in communities across the Pacific Northwest.
The community home loan program has been so well-received that Gesa is extending it into 2026 for the spring and summer season, traditionally the most active period for home buying.
This work is part of a larger, multi-year effort to elevate Gesa’s Home Loan department so that the credit union continues to support families in its communities. Over the past two years, Gesa has invested significantly in technology, staffing, and training with the goal of becoming one of the most trusted mortgage partners in the Pacific Northwest, continually striving to improve the experience for its members and communities.
