About Gesa —

The Gesa Credit Union difference.

From modest beginnings to everyday empowerment.

It all started in a shoebox. Starting in 1953, Gesa Credit Union has grown from a part-time office to the second largest credit union in Washington state. Serving over 260,000 members around the world, Gesa has a rich history of providing financial services to Washington state.

Since 1996, when Gesa became a community-chartered credit union and opened its membership range to everyone in Washington, the credit union experienced explosive growth. From inception, consumers embraced the value of banking with a not-for-profit cooperative. Gesa has grown to twenty-seven locations throughout the state but will always maintain a strong commitment to its roots. People in our communities have made Gesa what it is today, and we don’t take that loyalty for granted.

Gesa's Core Values

Credit Union motto - People helping people

Our purpose is to enable members to build the lives they want in our contemporary, changing world. Unlike a traditional bank, Gesa’s spirit reflects the Credit Union motto, “people helping people.”

Redefine your relationship with money

We believe in personal empowerment and helping you define your own way. We do this by revealing that people’s relationship with money isn’t uniform or static and we support the different ways it works across a lifetime.

Financial education is at the center

At Gesa, we believe that financial education should be fluid, too – it’s the means to a healthy relationship with money in a rapidly changing world. Delivering financial education in new ways to more people will enable personal empowerment.

We meet members where they are

Every person has the right to make the most of their money. We empower our members through remarkable service by exceeding member expectations, being the member’s advocate, anticipating member needs, and providing the member with relevant financial education.

Effective organizational culture

We equip every team member with the right knowledge to turn every Gesa member interaction into an educational opportunity. Our leaders uphold a high level of ethics and integrity to ensure our members get the best. They take responsibility, are held accountable, are readily accessible, and lead by example.

Sound financial management

Money is a tool to unlock individual opportunity and to create communities which means we help people build the means and momentum to move forward through a risk-controlled and safe, sound, and efficient operations management.
