Andrew Chung became Gesa Credit Union’s Chief Information Officer in January 2024, leading Gesa’s Information Technology, Information Security, Physical Security, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and Fraud business units.
In this role, Andrew focuses on developing IT strategies, driving innovation, and cybersecurity, while leveraging Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies to improve operations. His approach centers on building systems that scale with Gesa’s growth while protecting member data and organizational assets.
Andrew has spent nearly two decades at Gesa, joining during a period of significant growth that has required continuous technology evolution to support the organization’s expansion. He has held roles including Director of Architecture, Vice President of Development & Analytics, and Vice President of Information Technology, giving him a deep understanding of how technology decisions affect every part of the organization.
Before joining Gesa, Andrew worked as a bank teller in Santa Clara, California, while attending college—an experience that taught him how technology can either enable or frustrate frontline team members serving customers. He transitioned into IT at Santa Clara County Federal Credit Union, where he discovered his ability to translate between technical teams and business stakeholders.
Andrew earned his Bachelor’s Degree from San Jose State University and his Master’s Degree from Florida State University, both in Management Information Systems.
Andrew serves on the executive committee of America’s Credit Union Technology Council, Advisor to the North American Fintech Coalition, Advisor to Metal Blockchain’s Banking Innovation Program where he advises on fintech and blockchain initiatives. He is a board member of the Columbia Basin College Foundation and the ValorFI Heroes Foundation, organizations that support access to education and veteran services—causes that reflect his belief that financial institutions have a responsibility to strengthen the communities they serve.
