Gesa Credit Union was not affected by the recent global ransomware outbreak that spread rapidly and affected hospitals, corporations, and government offices across the globe. The ransomware, which blocks access to a computer until a sum of money is paid, is spread through phishing emails that trick a user into clicking a link.

Gesa continually monitors cybersecurity threats and takes appropriate action to protect our members’ personal and financial data. Ransomware attacks are nothing new to the financial industry and Gesa was readily prepared because of the steps we’ve taken over the years to prevent this type of attack from being successful.
